Favorite Quotes

I love a good quote.

I love the way a few words can impact me in a powerful way. I love how they can make me think, question or wonder about an idea or, even better, about myself. I love the way they can motivate me, encourage me and comfort me. I love the way they can pick me up and fill me with the determination I need to move ahead.

I used to print off pages of them when I found them online. After the pages started piling up I copied the quotes into an MSWORD document. A few computers later, I am not sure what happened to that document. Now I keep a special journal to jot down my absolute favorites as I discover them. With the advent of free quote-a-day programs, apps, tweets, etc. I can read a few good quotes almost anytime I like.

Here is a quote tweeted to me from Inspire_Us that has me thinking today:

“You can never do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late.”

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

A few of my favorite words

Here is a random thought for the day!

I have favorite words! Some are favorites because of what they mean to me (family, daughter, mom), some are favorites because of the way they sound to me (splendid, verandah, quilt) and some are favorites because of they way I see them on paper (autumn, writer, garden). I am drawn to these marvelous combinations of letters. There is nothing logical to this, it is simply a personal passion or perhaps a characteristic of being a lover of reading. I know I am not the only one, I have found others over the years who also love a good word!

What are your favorite words?
