How to Feel Lazy and Productive at the Same Time

Easy.

Stay in bed all morning and write. This way you can get work done and feel like a lazy putz all at the same time.

Happy Housekeeping

Glancing over the magazine racks at the grocery store, I could not help but roll my eyes at the headline “The best products and tricks to make every room sparkle.” Right. Unless, they have a product in there that will help me trick someone else into making every room sparkle, I am not interested.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not a lazy slob or anything. I just don’t have a personal interest in such affairs of the home. I would rather let the floor get good and dirty before I commit to pulling out the mop and bucket. It saves on water and soap and the noticeable difference after removing so much filth is far more satisfying than regular upkeep.

Regular upkeep takes time away from other things I would rather be doing, which is pretty much anything other than regular upkeep. So if anyone can help me with this aspect of homemaking, I’m all ears. If not, I am going to keep glossing over those headlines and reaching for the fashion magazines.

Five Little Pumpkins Rotting on the Lawn

I have never enjoyed the letdown that comes after a holiday or special occasion. For most people, symptoms can include loneliness, feeling lethargic, mild to severe depression. My post-holiday blues are generally accompanied by a large dose of procrastination and laziness. I suppose a case could be made that I am simply tired after all the work and effort put into preparing for the event, but really, I just don’t want to take the decorations down.

Which means I can’t put the next ones up.

Which explains the five little pumpkins rotting on my lawn.

I got the orange cobwebs, fake spiders and ghosts put away, but I could not get motivated to deal with the jack-o-lanterns that were slowly caving in on themselves. I felt good about moving them off the porch and placing them on the lawn so their oozing, rotting shells would stop staining our lawn chairs. But that is about as far as I got.

So if you are wondering about the five snow covered bumps on our front lawn and the lack of Christmas lights, now you know.
