I am a writer, a mother and a wife. While I do have additional interests, passions and responsibilities, this is my core. As a writer, the majority of my work includes personal essays on motherhood. Becoming a mom has been the most jarring experience of my life and that is why I write about it. I feel that as new moms, we do not always share our stumbles, mistakes, and fears with each other until we are not “new” moms anymore, if at all. To that end, my writing endeavors to disclose the truths of being a mom, even when unpleasant, uncomfortable or seemingly inappropriate. I take this seriously, but do bring a bit of humor to my work; I can’t really do this job without it. While mothering is not the only topic I explore, it is a perspective that does seep into much of my work.
